There are three main ways that Horsham Matters may be able to help you.
1) If you need food
You will need to obtain a foodbank voucher from a referral agency first. There are dozens of these throughout Horsham District, including Citizens Advice, Children and Family Centres, Saxon Weald and other housing associations, Think Family, NHS services and church offices. Once you have a voucher, this can then be exchanged for a food parcel at any of the four foodbanks in the district, details of which can be found here.
2) If you need help to top up your gas/electric meter
Following significant cuts to our Community Support budget from April 2019, we can provide limited help with fuel vouchers, for individuals and couples without children. We are focusing our support on this client group, as we understand families will be able to approach their local Children and Family Centre for help. These vouchers can only be provided in an emergency, and evidence of means will be required. To find out if you are eligible, contact Kathryn on 0300 124 0204.
3) If you need essential furniture items
If you need a bed to sleep on or a wardrobe, sofa or other items of furniture and have no other help available to you, our Community Support team may be able to help. Again, we are focusing our support on individuals and couples without children. Families will be signposted to their local Children and Family Centre in the first instance. To find out more, contact Kathryn on 0300 124 0204.
If you have a need that does not fall in to one of the above categories, and are unsure who may be able to help, please do contact us. Occasionally we can help with ad-hoc support, or can signpost you to an alternative agency.
