WHAT TO DONATE
We gladly accept donations of good quality furniture, electrical items, household goods and other items in a suitable condition to sell on and to donate to those in need across the District. Please see the Opening Times & Location page for our opening times.
Whilst we fully accept items will show signs of use, we can’t accept items that are damaged, dirty or stained. The general rule of thumb is ‘would you consider buying it?’
There are also a few other rules around items we are not able to take due to legislation:
Any upholstered items (mattresses, sofa etc.) without a fire retardant labelling attached to it
We are not able to accept specific safety equipment e.g. car seats (including those in a 3 way pushchair system), bicycle helmets in case they have been involved in an accident and other safety helmets
We are not able to accept gas equipment and appliances
We are not able to accept high chairs and pushchairs without a 5 point harness
We provide furniture and essential household items to homeless residents moving in to permanent/temporary accommodation. We are therefore always requiring donations of beds, mattresses, chest of drawers and wardrobes; please contact our offices to arrange a collection of your items, 0300 1240204.
We do make a charge for collections which contributes towards the cost of vehicle fuel, vehicle maintenance and staffing. That said, if you would like to drop off your furniture yourself please come along to our Donation Centre on Blatchford Road, Horsham, RH13 5QR. We are open on Tuesdays and Saturdays for large item donation, 9:00am - 10.30am. You must be able to move these items without our assistance.
We are fortunate to receive a high number of donations and respectfully ask that the following items are donated to other organisations:
Older style televisions
Video and cassette tapes
Board games and puzzles
